Bookish Destinations in Baguio City

Baguio City is probably one of the most visited tourist destinations in northern Philippines. This city takes pride not only of its historical, cultural and fascinating tourist attractions, but also of its excellent craftsmanship and fresh produce. Besides these, it is also known for its large ukay-ukay industry. All over the city are wide stalls dedicated for thrift shops, where people can purchase used clothing and stuff from.

Among these thrift shops in Baguio City is Bookends, a huge treasure chest for bibliophiles. Bookends is a secondhand bookstore that is just a short walk away from the main thoroughfare that is Session Road. They have a huge collection of pre-loved books, comics/manga, and collectibles which I think are perfect accessories for bookshelves.

The books are arranged by author and by category which makes hunting more convenient despite the overwhelming number of eye-catching objects. Moreover, bookworms are welcome to bunk out on any corner of the store for hours to read. The cool climate of the city adds to the coziness of this place, giving readers a relaxing literary experience.

All of their books are in good to mint condition and are tagged with really cheap prices. I got myself a gorgeous hardbound copy of The White Queen by Philippa Gregory for only Php280.00. My boyfriend scored a Dragon Ball Z comic book for only Php100.00.

About a 15-minute drive away from Session Road is Arca’s Yard Cafe, certainly another heaven for book enthusiasts. This cafe offers a serene setting, fantastic top view, and superb dishes. On top of that, it has a mini basement library and a collection of antique decors that showcase Igorot culture. As a sucker for art and books, I swear I could spend an entire day just admiring this place.

Bookends is located at T. Claudio St, Baguio City behind Skyworld Shopping Center. Divergently, Arca’s Yard is located at 777 Tiptop, Ambuklao Rd., Baguio City.
